Inter Milan wins 1998 UEFA Cup title.

    THE TOURNAMENT
    --------------
The UEFA Cup was a 101-team tournament involving the top
finishers in each of the European professional soccer
leagues. It is second in prestige to the Champions League,
and has been played every year since 1958.

Certain countries had more representantives in the
competition due to the UEFA system of ranking national
      leagues.

The tournament started with a preliminary qualifying
round involving 40 teams from the lowest seeded leagues
in Europe. The winners advanced to a second qualifying
      round of 36 teams.

All 18 qualifiers advanced to the first-round, which
included 27 teams automatically qualified from the top
ranked European Leagues, plus 16 teams eliminated from
the Champions League, and three teams from the Intertoto
      Cup.

The UEFA Cup final will be decided in one match, instead
      of the usual two-leg affair.
