#Event Description and Format -- Badminton#

Badminton is an Olympic sport for the third time -- second for
the mixed doubles competition, which was an exhibition sport in
1972 and 1988. 

There are men's and women's singles, men's and women's doubles
and mixed doubles. 

Matches are best-of-three and the tournament is
single-elimination.  Game scoring is the first to 15, though
women's singles are 11.  Only the serving side can score. 

The tournament starts September 16.  Medals will be awarded
September 21 in men's and mixed, September 22 in women's singles
and doubles and September 23 in men's singles and women's
doubles.
