ASK SLAM!

By CHRIS NICHOLS -- SLAM! Sports
Hi Chris, I need your advice on a trade I was thinking of offering: I send Amonte, Morrison and Selanne for his Jagr, Marleau and Simon. I can afford to give up +/- and assists, but I desperately need goals and PIM's. What do you think?

Dave, Toronto

I think that's a great deal. Jagr is the best player in the deal and Simon is skating with Iginla and Conroy at the moment.

A guy in my pool is trying to trade me Lalime for my Gomez. Knowing that Gomez is getting his share of points will Elias and Gionta, he jumped on the bandwagon. However, we're in H2H league and our playoff run is Starting Monday 8th 2004. Our league has 3 goalie categories and 7 scoring categories. I think this guy is trying to bolster his forwards so much, because as I see he is trading me his last goalie. Do you think I should let him have this advantage and trade my Gomez to his team for Lalime? Or do you think I should keep Gomez?

Lalime should be a much better bet than Gomez. While the "EGG" line has been scoring at a nice pace, I can't believe Gomez will keep it up. Lalime is still the man on a very good Ottawa team.

Hi Chris: I've been offered a trade, his Lidstrom and Spezza for my Zhamnov and Amonte. Should I take it? I'm in a yahoo league that rewards only goals, assists, special teams points, and game winning goals. I kind of need defense but I think I might be giving up too much.

Thanks,

Dan

Since it's always harder to find scoring from the blueline, I'd make the deal. You really have to weigh your own team needs though. Zhamnov and Amonte have played well together and you might be able to get a better forward than Spezza if you push it.

Hey Chris,

great advice this year!! You the man! I have a 1st round bye this week and a team in my league just dropped Forsberg. I have a player on my team who could be dropped if needed. I was thinking of picking up Forsberg. Good idea or no? My forwards are: Lang, Doan, Datsyuk, Kovalchuk, Heatley, Walker, Sakic, Vinnie Lecav and Recchi. Have you heard any word on Forsberg's return? Thanks again.

Doug

g.r. Michigan

Forsberg should definitely be grabbed. With Datsyuk gone for another week I might make him the fall guy. Forsberg's upside is just too good and you have nice depth on forward to take the risk. He's going to continue to be day-to-day, but he'll return soon enough.
