EDMONTON GRADS TROPHYOutstanding Female teamPercy Page organized a senior girls basketball team called the Edmonton Commercial Graduates Basketball Club, the "Edmonton Grads" for short, at McDougall High School in 1915. In the team's first year, they won the Wilson Shield as Alberta's top women's basketball team. From that year until the team's dissolution in 1940, the Grads won the Alberta title every year but one, and that one loss was due to a technicality. The 25-year record of the Grads of 502 wins and 20 losses is unparalleled in the history of basketball. Long-time fan and basketball inventor Dr. James Naismith called them "an inspiration to basketball players throughout the world and a model for all girls' teams". Inaugurated in 1995, the Edmonton Grads Award is presented annually to Canada's outstanding female team of the year.Past Recipients
