Hartford center Benoit Dusablon named Sher-Wood AHL Player of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, MA ... The American Hockey League announced today that
Hartford Wolf Pack center Benoit Dusablon has been named the Sher-Wood
AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 6, 2002. In
three appearances last week, Dusablon recorded four goals, three assists
and a plus-4 rating, helping the Wolf Pack to a 2-1-0 mark.
After being held scoreless in Manchester on New Year's Eve, Dusablon
broke out for two goals and an assist and had a game-high seven shots on
goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime win at league-leading Philadelphia,
including the game-tying goal with just 56 seconds left in regulation.
The next night, the 22-year-old rookie sparked a furious comeback from a
five-goal first-period deficit, scoring two goals and two assists in a
wild 6-5 loss at Albany. In the second period of that game, Dusablon
established a Wolf Pack franchise record with two goals in the span of
eight seconds.
In recognition of his achievement, Dusablon will receive a Sher-Wood
leather jacket, presented to him during an on-ice ceremony prior to an
upcoming game. In addition, Sher-Wood will donate five travel bags to
the Connecticut Chasers, members of Special Hockey International's Heart
League, in Dusablon's name.
A native of Ste.-Anne-de-la-Perad, Que., Dusablon has tallied six goals
and 10 assists for 16 points in 17 games with Hartford this season. He
has 10 points in his last five games, and 15 points in 14 games since
his most recent recall from Charlotte of the East Coast Hockey League on
Dec. 3.
