Lenny Faustino and Jacinthe Lariviere posted their best ever result at the national championships in January upsetting Annabelle Langlois and Patrice Archetto in pairs for the silver medal. The result also earned Faustino and Lariviere a berth on the Olympic team.
Faustino and Lariviere have been together since 1997, and have plenty of international experience. They've represented Canada 15 times and won five medals including gold this past fall at the Nebelhorn Trophy in Germany.
Their programs this year are evident love themes. The short program is a piece by late 19th century-early 20th century British composer Edward Elgar and the long program features the famous Romeo and Juliet score by late Italian composer Nino Rota.
Lariviere and Faustino actually tried out together for a couple of years before they actually became an official team. At first the age difference was a problem but in 1997 they tried again and it worked. Faustino chose figure skating over hockey after attending his sister's skating practices.
