Cassie Campbell was one of Canadaâs top defenceman for several seasons but switched to left wing a couple of years ago. She was a member of five world championship winning teams for Canada and was also on the 1998 Olympic squad. During the lead-up to those Games, she was Canadaâs highest profile player.
She holds a sociology degree and is halfway through a degree in nutrition at the University of Guelph. She spends each summer on Prince Edward Island where her aunt and uncle run the Anne of Green Gables Museum. The home was were her relative Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Green Gables author) was married and it is also where her father grew up. Campbell also runs a hockey school in PEI.
What Canada Did
Feb. 21: Canada won gold medal with a 3-2 decision over the U.S. finishing with 5-0 record, while outscoring opponents 35-5.
Feb. 19: Canada def. Finland 7-3 in semifinal play, advancing to Thursday's final against the U.S.
Feb. 16: Canada def. Sweden 11-0, raising record to 3-0 in Group A of preliminary round.
Feb. 13: Canada defeated Russia 7-0, raising record to 2-0 in Group A of preliminary round.
Feb. 11: Canada opened preliminary round with a 7-0 win over Kazakhstan.
