A three-time B.C. provincial champion, pharmacist Lawrence Varga is headed
to his first Olympic Games. He'll be part of the men's eights crew. At
the 1998 world championships he placed eighth in fours but by 1999 he was
in the eights boat an helped Canada to eighth spot at the worlds in St.
Catharines, ON.
He started rowing at the University of British Columbia in 1991 however one
of his first major competitive experiences was in cross country skiing at
the 1995 B.C. Games.
