Robin Lyons won her first Canadian title this past August uncorking a 62.70
metre toss in the women's hammer throw event, which is making its Olympic
debut in Sydney. She also placed third in the discus however didn't
qualify for the Games in that event. Her first international competition
was the 1997 Francophone Games and she placed fifth in the discus. Her father Mike Lyons competed internationally in mini golf tours and is a golf
instructor.
Lyons was served with a doping infraction Aug. 13, 2000 at the Canadian Track and Field Championships and a subsequent protest was dismissed Sept. 8, 2000 by
the Doping Control Review Board.
