Surin to skip two major races ahead of Olympics

TORONTO (AP) -- Bruny Surin, world silver medalist in the 100 meters, withdrew from the last two major meets before the Sydney Olympics to rest his hurt left hamstring.

The Canadian sprinter will skip the Thessaloniki meet Wednesday night in Greece and the Berlin Grand Prix on Friday, his wife and agent, Bianelle Legros, said Tuesday.

Surin's best time this year is 10.08 seconds. He had the second-fastest time in the world last year, 9.84 seconds.
