LONDON (AP) -- European 200-meter champion Doug Walker will not be going to the Sydney Games after deciding he was not in good enough shape to compete at the British Olympic trials.
The Scottish sprinter initially had been suspended for a positive drug test but won the right in court to run at the trials on Aug. 12-13.
Walker now plans to concentrate on the 2001 indoor season while attempting to clear his name before an International Amateur Athletic Federation arbitration panel on Aug. 14.
UK Athletics, the domestic governing body, exonerated Walker a year ago for a positive nandrolone test in November 1998. But the IAAF refused to accept the ruling and submitted his case to arbitration.
Walker won an injunction in London last Tuesday freeing him to compete at the trials in case he was found innocent of the drug charges at the IAAF arbitration hearing.
